Kom Rus Nature Retreat is a serene getaway nestled in the breathtaking Gold Coast hinterland. We're a family-operated retreat dedicated to providing you with a tranquil and rejuvenating experience amidst the natural beauty of our 38 acre family farm.
“Kom Rus” is Afrikaans for “come rest,” and here at Kom Rus Nature Retreat, we truly believe in the incredible power of nature to heal, inspire, and bring rest to the soul. Our idyllic location boasts stunning picturesque views of Mount Tamborine that offer a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's the perfect spot to unwind, reconnect with nature, and recharge your senses. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, some intimate family time, or even a solo retreat, we’re certain that you’ll be deeply blessed.
Our Tiny Homes provide a blend of modern amenities and rustic charm. Equipped with everything you need, these homes ensure your comfort while at the same time immersing you in the serene surroundings of nature. Every aspect of the setup is off grid but you’ll barely notice it. It's the perfect combination of convenience and natural beauty.
The farm has quiet walking tracks, multiple dams, stunning views and plenty of Australian bushland to enjoy. There’s a beautiful flowing creek just a brief stroll down the road, where you can swim if you’re brave enough for the cold. And you’ll encounter plenty of different bird species, wallabies, possums and maybe even a koala or deer if you’re lucky.
The Gold Coast and its surroundings also offer a plethora of exciting experiences and things to do. There are rainforest walks, beaches, waterfalls, glow warm-caves, mountain lookouts, vibrant cafes and restaurants, theme-parks, local farmers markets and much much more. There's something here for everyone.

Hi! We are Dirk and Wendy Pretorius and we are the proud owners and operators of Kom Rus Nature Retreat. Operating a nature retreat centre has been our dream, and we are so excited to be living that dream today.
Throughout the years, we have had the privilege of welcoming countless individuals to our retreat, and witnessing firsthand the transformative effect it has had on their well-being. Seeing our guests find rest and rejuvenation in the tranquility of this place brings us immense joy and fulfilment. We truly love hosting people on our farm, and we take great pride in creating an environment where each guest feels welcomed, cherished, and given space to breathe.
We are also very passionate about family! We cherish our two adult children and their spouses, and nothing brings us greater delight than spending quality time with our grandchildren. And of course, our love extends to our loyal four-legged companions and our beloved cows! When we’re not out and about you’ll see us walking the doggies to the creek, working in our veggie garden or busying ourselves with something on the farm.
